Employment Opportunities
Speech and/or Debate Coach for 2024 weekly summer camps and/or September 2023- May 2024 School year.
The Speech & Debate Academy specializes in elementary, middle school and high school speech and debate enrichment programs. We are looking for individuals to fill a variety of positions:
1. Debate Coaches who are able to coach any of the High School events. If an applicant is knowledgeable in Lincoln-DouglasPublic Forum, Policy, Parliamentary Debate that is a plus.
2. Speech Coaches for interpretative and platform speech events.
3. Elementary teachers for grades 2nd to 5th, for introductory speech classes.
Positions are available to teach online.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Compensation: Competitive, part-time hourly pay based on experience.

Requirements:
- Deliver lessons in debate theory and specific debate topics
- Prepare for classes in advance
- Ability to teach 2-hour classes at a time with 6 to 10 students in each class
- Committed to work on weekends (8 hours or less teaching on Saturday and/or Sunday) and/or in afternoons and evenings on weekdays
- Self-starter
- Ability to work well independently and in a team
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Optional: accompany students to tournaments, usually held during the weekends
Qualifications:
- Previous competitive experience in debate and/or speech
- Previous coaching experience is preferred but not necessary
- Teaching credential is preferred but not essential
- Must be an excellent teacher who is ethical, timely, and passionate about young people and changing the world through education
- 4-year college degree or higher also preferred but not necessary
Compensation: Competitive, part-time hourly pay based on experience.
Online Summer 2023 Camp Instructors
The Speech & Debate Academy is looking for instructors to teach in-person summer camps at our Cupertino, CA location and online.
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM every Monday to Friday with a 1-hour lunch break for ANY the following weeks of 2023: June 12-16, June 19-23,
June 26 - June 30, July 10-14, July 17-21, and/orJuly 24-28, 2023.
There is an opportunity to continue during the school year: September 2023 through May 2024 on weekday evenings and on weekends.
Positions Available with Training Provided:

- Ability to manage a class of 10 students. We will train instructors and provide a curriculum.
